Wow Week 10 Already?

Wow, it is already week 10! Unbelievable! 

Hi everyone! I can't believe that time always been jealous of me. It is already week 10 guys. So what happened in this week? This week me and my friend try to do the development phase in ADDIE model for our e-Courseware project. But before that, we have to know the basics in the Smart Builder software. 

I managed to learn a few tips and tricks on how to use this software. Two of them are on how to add action and different effect to button. There are more actions and effects which are yet to be discovered, and I believe if I take an ample time to understand and play around a little bit more with this application, we will be able to produce an interesting courseware. 

Other than that, we listed down all the Collective Nouns that we want to teach and find all the related pictures. Here are a few examples or background for our e-courseware project.

Last Task E-Courseware

Hello and hi again peeps!
So this week me and my group members received our last task for this subject which is e-courseware. We have to develop our own e-courseware by using a software called Smart Builder.

First of all, we have to follow ADDIE model to create our e-Courseware. We already have done the analysis part and now we have to design the pages for the e-Courseware. We did it in our class and managed to complete it before the class hour ended. So below is the draft for the design phase.

We chose to teach Collective Nouns for the students that age around 10 in our assessment this time. We drafted and planned to develop around 20 pages for the courseware. We did this phase to make sure later we will be able to do the e-Courseware smoothly. We just need to follow the flow that we made. 

This is my first time using Smart Builder and it will be hard for me when I reach the development phase. Moreover, I am really not good with technology especially using a software like Smart Builder. I hope that me and my group can do it together until the end.

Here Come My First Powtoon Video!

Halooooo peeps!!

As promised before, here is my Powtoon video guys. It is actually a pair work. I did it with Fatihah Razak which is my partner since my first semester. This video is entitled English Wonder which is our channel programme. 

This video is about How the English Language will Evolve Over Time. It really hard to do it because it is my first time using Powtoon. But then when I discover all the functions in Powtoon, it becomes more easy and efficient.

Instructional Design? What?

Welcome back peeps, here another post about what I have learnt this week. Have you ever used CD-ROM at the back of your textbook during your school time? Perhaps yes and perhaps not and for me it is not. I never used that CD because I never bought a textbook. I only borrowed it from the SPBT group. Only a purchase textbook has the CD. So what is the connection between the CD and what I have learnt this week?

Its Instructional Design peeps! Instructional Design is defined as a systematic process that employed to develop education and training programs in a consistent and reliable fashion. The short form for Instructional Design is ISD. 

ISD consist of figuring out the needs of the learner, figuring the learning objectives and creating some intervention to achieve objectives. ISD also involves creating computer courseware for learning courseware that acts as supplement or support to lesson and not as complete replacement.

There are a lot of types Instructional Design. So I got to learn and ADDIE model and present about Dick and Carey model. So ADDIE model stands for : 

Based on the circle, A stands for analysis which this process is basically where the instructor identify objectives, learners levels and also who are the learners. D stand for design where this phase the instructor develops plan and strategies and also creating storyboard. Basically this process where instructor develop the flow plan. 

Another D stand for development. In this phase, the instructor develops graphics and materials and checks for bugs and errors for their design. Moving on to I, it stand for Implement. In this phase, the instructor develops procedures, trains the facilitator and try to make learners to understand the design. E stand for evaluation. Here the instructor evaluate the impact of the courseware. 

So for the Dick and Carey model, me and my partner did an infographic. 

Kinda sorry if the infographic blur a bit. We did pretty well in explaining to my friends and the lecturer. This model kinda detailed in all aspects. It has 9 steps and really have to followed all.

Powtoon and Posters PeePs

Greetings peeps!

So this week I received another task from my lecturer which I have to find a partner and do an educational video. Frankly speaking, I am really bad at this because I really don't know on how to edit a video. Recording is easy and making script too but editing the video? I guess that beyond my supreme abilities. Hehe.. 

But worry not, thanks to my lecturer, I have been guide to use Powtoon software where I can make my video interesting. I have been taught on how to use on this week class tutorial. Let me share a little bit with you guys on why Powtoon can make my video project interesting.

This is how the platform for Powtoon looks like. I did a huge explore to it and found several things that really unique. It gives you a lot of template and editing tools to help you color your video. It really adores me and I don't even know which to choose because all of them looks fantastic.

Moreover, I can animate my video with the characters provided in this platform. It is so cool because the characters can even move and do actions! I would really love to use this as my video maker soon. Just wait peeps! Oh wait there is another one software that I learnt this week. The software is Canva!!!

Well in this platform I can design my own posters,advertisment, banner, and a lot more. Actually I did used Canva before this to design my poster and banner for my big event in college. Canva is really easy to use because the templates are already there and there are a lot of design that I can choose. I have to make a persuasive poster in this week class and I did my best to make it simple. Here is my poster :

How To Let Go of Someone PODCAST!

Pod pod PODCAST!

Hello again peeps!! Pod pod podcast time is up! So this week I learnt about podcast and how to record my own podcast. I am so excited because this  thing is new for me.

Podcast is actually an audio and/or video file 'broadcast' via the internet and can be downloaded. I never heard a podcast before because I thought all the sound that produce from the internet called music or recorded sound. Never heard of podcast before but luckily I got the chance to learn it during this class.

There are two main uses of podcast which are:

• Students can listen to existing podcast
• Students can create their own podcast

The existing podcast is functioned as for the people to get self study, for students to listen it in classes, encourage students to find podcast that interacts them since the existing podcast got variety of topics and different levels for students to hear. I heard several podcast during this class as the lecturer told us to do so and it attracts me to hear it more because I got and learnt so many things by just listening to the podcast.

I wanted to do my own podcast and my wish came true after the lecturer gave us an assignment to do our own podcast. I feel a bit excited but then I became lost because I don't know what to talk and what to share in my own podcast.

First of all what do I need before podcasting? I need an audio and recording tools such as smartphones or online voice recorder to make my voice clear when people hear my podcast. It is not just that, I need some improvement for my voice to make it interesting by using the software that is called Audicity.

The Day I Got MC and Learnt CMC

Howdy peeps! 

Lately weather are so freezing and has made me blue ( sick ). 

First of all I would like to apologize to my respective lecturer because I did not come to class since I'm not feeling well. I tried to force myself to come but I can barely stand up straightly. So I went to the clinic and got myself a MC.

Thanks to the friendship I got, my friends share all the notes and information about what topic being taught. Its about CMC. 

Have you guys heard about CMC? CMC stands for Computer Mediated Communication. It is about when any human interaction occurs through two or more electronic devices. It is seems that education taking  whole advantages through CMC. CMC is divided into two types which are asynchronous CMC and synchoronous CMC.

Asynchronous CMC means communication that not synchronised. It messages are not exchanged and replied to immediately (or not expected to). There are several examples of asynchronous CMC such as E-mails, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, internet forums, blogs and also message boards.

Synchronous CMC means synchronised communication between participants. It means messages can be exchanged and replied immediately (often expected to). The specialty of synchronous CMC is it allows direct communication with the participants. For example, internet chat rooms, messenger, video and audio conferencing.

CMC has made learning become more easy and convenient for long distance participants. It allows teacher and learner to interact without being in the same location such as by the use of E-lectures, video conferencing and E-tutoring.

However, CMC also has its pros and cons. The advantages can be clearly seen when learning has no distance barrier. But in the negative sides, we can see that learner will have the lack of socio-emotional and nonverbal cues and also lack of real human contact.

Other than CMC, my friends also told me that I got to do article review for CMC. I chose to review the article entitled CMC for language acquisition and intercultural learning. The link is http://www.ipcsit.com/vol12/22-ICDLE2011E20003.pdf

From the article, the research on CMC-aided language acquisition shows a great potential, both for language and intercultural learning. It also tells me  the aim of CMC in intercultural learning can help to improve language teaching and learning, hence there is a interconnectedness between language acquisition and intercultural learning. From the article, it also state that implementing CMC in designing authentic experiences is not a trivial exercise, but it needs careful consideration both of the software and learning outcomes. I understand that for selecting the most suitable delivery technology instructors

require perfect understanding of intended discourse goal.

CALL ? Search Engines?

Greetings people! 

So this week I'm gonna share with you guys something new that i have learnt and heard for the first time. There are two things that I'm going to share about which are first the term called 'CALL' and search engines. I definitely familiar with search engines but the term ' CALL'? Really? 'Call' or 'CALL'? 

Some of my friends heard that term before because they have learnt it during their Diploma in my college but for me not. It is because I'm just from UiTM Foundation Programme and during my time there I did not learn about 'CALL.

So what is CALL actually? CALL stand for Computer-Assisted language learning. CALL refer to the area of technology and second language teaching and learning. I also get to learn the types of CALL which are:

These CALL programs helps a lot in teaching and learning process. From the types, we have CALL-specific software where I can used CD ROMS in language learning, web-based learning programs where I can refer to online blog and websites for information and the other two as well. 

I also got to learn the progression of CALL which consist of three. The progression are behavioristic CALL, communicative CALL and integrated CALL.

Moving on to search engine, as I said I really familiar with it because i learnt it during my Foundation Programme at UiTM and at first semester of Degree programme in my college right now. 

Search Engine is a web tool that allows user to enter keywords and find information on websites contained in its database. Search engines have four parts which are :

• Database, 
• Web-crawlers
• User interface
• Information retrieval system

There are things new for me actually for the search engines such as I get to learn specialized search engines which are :

 

These search engines really amazed me because as example like 'Pipl.com' can help me find people that I want. Just put the full name of the person and POOF he or she will appear. This thing scares me actually too because I thought my personal details that put on Web will be safe and secure but then from 'Pipl.com' my personal details can easily get from it.

First Thing First

Greetings everyone!

First thing first i would like to introduce myself :

My name is Muhammad Rusyaidi Fikri bin Amran. 

Usually people can call me whatever they want but i prefer "Fik".

I was born in 1997 which makes me now 21 years old and still single but not available.

I lives in Kuala Lumpur and stay with my beloved parents.

To begin with, this blog is specially made for one of my subject that i take this semester which is Internet Technologies for Language Learning (ITLL) which I have to fulfill the assessment. It is not a big deal actually because writing blog can actually teach me and improve my writing skills. Frankly speaking, I like speaking rather than writing because writing things requires a lot of time for me even for free writing session in my other class. 

So what did I learn today from my class?

Honestly all of today's lecture are really new for me because I get to learn that blog have various kind of type which are weblog, tutor blog, class blog and even more. I thought blog only for a person to post whatever they want and just that. I also learnt that why people use blog as their sharing platform. Thanks to the lecturer because now I know all of this new information about blog.

Expectation for this subject?

For me this subject is really new and requires me a lot of patience to learn about it because honestly I am really bad with technologies. I may look young but I prefer the old-fashioned way in learning. But somehow I really expect this subject can help me to improvise my technology skills for learning language.
